South Hamilton Little Wall Lake Project

Block scheduling at South Hamilton has made it possible to have the time in a class period to travel to Little Wall Lake, a county park a few miles from school. This has allowed us to use Little Wall Lake as an outdoor laboratory. Each fall, students study the ecosystem of the lake and select a small portion to research.

Little Wall lake provides a rich environment for study.

A variety of invertebrates can be collected, studied, and identified.

Even microscopic life forms are collected and studied with the plankton net.

Along with studying organisms, water testing is conducted at the lake.

Here, students are conducting water tests and making microscopic examination of members of the protist kingdom.
