Sharks are a meat-eating fish and one of the most feared sea
animals. These fish live in oceans throughout the world but are
most common in warm seas. Sharks vary greatly in size and habits.
Whale sharks are the largest kind of shark. They weigh up to 15
tons, more than twice as much as an African elephant. They can
grow up to 60 feet long. The smallest sharks may measure only 4
inches long and weigh less than 1 ounce. Some kinds of sharks are
found near the surfaces, and some live in the depths of the
ocean. Sharks live in coastly water and some out at sea.
Sharks are one of nature's most efficient predators. Some
sharks can smell a scent that is more than one mile away.
Most sharks hunt other vertebrates, some species of sharks
also eat sea lions, sea turtles, sea birds, and dolphins.
