ORCHIDS
WHAT
IS AN ORCHID?
The orchid family is possibly the largest family of
flowering plants. There are over 25,000 different species of
orchids. They range from plants only a fraction of an inch high
with flowers about the size of a pinheads to some with 5-10 foot
stems whose flower stalks are 15 feet long.
WHERE ORCHIDS
GROW
Orchids are found in nearly all parts of
the world from the arctic regions to the tropics. However, most
orchids are from in the warmer areas where there are wet and dry
seasons.
Growing
orchids in the home
can be easier than people think. One of the best kind of orchids
for growing inside is the Phalaenopsis.
