Calves
Calves are baby cattle. They weigh up to 700 pounds. Most
calves are born on pastures. They are nursed by their mother
until weened in the fall. Then they are fed corn, oats, and
protein.
Bulls
Bulls are the male cattle. They can grow to be 2000 pounds or
more. The four most popular kinds of bulls are Angus, Brahman,
Charolais, and Hereford. Angus bulls are all black. They are also
polled which means that they don't have horns.
Brahman bulls are most known for
their big humps. They are gray and black. Brahman bulls have
horns and drooped ears.
Charolais are the biggest of all
the bulls. They are all white. Charolais are polled bulls.
Hereford bulls are red with a
white face. There are two types of Hereford bulls polled and
horned. They are raised for meat.
