How to get a degree in Zoology

High School- In high school you need to take all the required courses for the university of your choice.

College- If you are interested in the field of zoology you would want to get a degree in the Bachelor of Science. To acquire a degree of Bachelor of Science you need to complete 124 hours of acceptable course work, and 45 hours of upper division courses.

*Cellular/Genetics Lab 1

*Animal Ecology 4

*Evolution 3

*Biology Seminar 3

Minimum of 4 credits:

*Developmental Biology 4

*Comparative Animal Physiology 4

*Comparative Anatomy 4

*Molecular Biology 4

Minimum of 8 credits:

*Invertebrate Zoology 4

*Ornithology 3

*Entomology 3

*Herpetology 3

*Ichthyology 3

*Mammalogy 3

Required support courses:

*General Chemistry 10

*Organic Chemistry 10

*Introduction to Computer 3

*College Physics 10

*Precalculus Mathematics 3

*Introduction to Statistical Methods 3

(Number after all of the course stands for credit hours.)

Path after you receive you Bachelor of Science

Graduate School- After your Bachelor of Science degree you can go on to graduate school. From their you can go into the Government, Industry, Medical Research, or Museum Research.

Government Jobs - After your Bachelor of Science degree you can go into Government jobs. Job opportunities awaiting you their can be ministries, museums, parks, zoo, and Elementary and High School teaching.

Private Sector Jobs - After your Bachelor of Science degree you can go into a private sector job. Such jobs might include: private consulting firms, sales, laboratories in hospitals or universities, and publishing or science writing.
