1999 D.A.R.E. Graduation

The 1999 South Hamilton D.A.R.E. Graduation was held March 3 in the South Hamilton Auditorium. Teachers, parents, and 5th grade friends were on hand to witness the culmination ceremony held for the graduating sixth graders. The program is called D.A.R.E. is the acronym for Drug Abuse Resistance Education.

Sixth grader Jodi Petrie introduced the speakers for the day. The first was educator and officer Steve Butler, who gave an overview of the program. Sixth graders who read their D.A.R.E. essays were Brandi Eaterday, Nathaniel Feldman, Whitney Olthoff, Ross Schumaker, Jenna Krause, Matt Sigmund, and Ariana Wolf.

Featured speaker for the ceremony was Teresa Moberg, Miss Teen Iowa 1999. Miss Moberg related personal experiences relating to the trials of today's teenagers.

Principal Paul Hemphill presented certificates to the students graduating. Students closing the ceremony were Adam Olson and Chaz Olson.
