Contacting your Legislator

Through the Mail:  In session or out of session, the surest way to get a thorough response from a legislator is by "snail mail."  It may be slow, but it is usually more effective than Email or phone calls.

Email:  Email is also good in or out of session.  However, Email correspondence is more casual than letter-writing and may not provoke as thoughtful a response.

Phone Calls:  Phone calls are excellent during session if the call is pertinent to the current debate.  If your concern or question is not of immediate importance, phone calls are not as useful.  Be aware that legislators are busy people, and are not always available to talk on the phone.

Addresses and phone numbers may be found on the Iowa General Assembly website.
