Community Service Award Ceremony

Masters of Ceremony - Jordan Marshall and Cameron Olson

The South Hamilton Sixth Grade worked on a Community Service Project this spring.  Sixty-four students collected cans and earned 1100 dollars to be given back to their communities.  On May 23rd a special ceremony was held in the elementary lunchroom.  Through lots of brainstorming and committee work, the students decided to give each community library $100 to buy young adult and Iowa Teen Books.  Also, $100 was given to the Elementary Booster Club, and $100 was given to the Lord's Cupboard.  The sixth graders believe reading is really important and donated $200 to their middle school library.  The last $400 was donated to the South Hamilton Elementary Library to buy books in honor of the personnel the students worked with in 5th and 6th grade.  Every 6th grade student was involved in the special ceremony honoring these people.  Refreshments were served.

The sixth grade honored the Taste of South Hamilton for the service these
students have done for their school and community.
