South Hamilton School
Friends of Education 1984

Curtis Thoreson

On November 14, 1984, Mr. Curtis O. Thoreson of Ellsworth was recognized by the South Hamilton Education Association as a Friend of Education. Mr. Thoreson served eighteen years on the school board starting in 1963 when South Hamilton was a newly formed district. During his years on the board the school went through extensive changes, highlighted by the building of the new high school and the closing of high school centers in Ellsworth, Stanhope, and Randall. Mr. Thoreson always worked for what he believed was in the best interest of the South Hamilton students even when it was the unpopular stand. He sacrificed much time and energy for the good of our school.

A plaque was presented and a reception was held in honor of Mr. Thoreson and his wife, Beryl.
