The Hawk wrestling team started this season like they ended last season, with a big win. South High thumped Ogden 56-17 on Thursday, December 3.

I was pleased with our performance. If we wrestled well we thought the most points we should give up would be 18, head coach Todd Coy said. The kids were real aggressive, made the most of their pin opportunities.

Trent Johnson received a forfeit at 103 pounds to start the evening. Roger Hayes III, in his first varsity match, squared off against defending state champion Jesse Sundell at 112 pounds. Hayes lost by a fall in 1:13.

Tony Pederson faced state qualifier Tyler Grieser at 119 pounds. Pederson lost by a technical fall 15-0 and the Bulldogs had their only lead of the meet 11-6.
