ALLIGATORS
Alligator is the name of two kinds of reptiles related to
crocodiles. The American and the Chinese alligators. Alligators
resemble lizards in there shape but they have thicker bodies and
tails than lizards. Alligators jaws have many sharp teeth.
Alligators swim by moving there bodies from side to side. When
made into leather, alligator hide looks good and lasts a long
time. Manufactures make it into handbags, shoes and boots, belts,
etc. Alligators of the past grew to eighteen feet long or even
longer. Most alligators now grow from nine to twelve feet. The
female alligator makes her nest of grass and other plants.
Alligators like to rest during the day and hunt for foo at night.
In winter alligators bury themselves in mud. Alligators eat meny
kinds of small animals including fish, snakes, frogs, turtles,
and small mammels. They drag them under water and then tear them
to pieces. Alligators are most common in lakes, swamps, and
rivers a long the Gulf of Mexico.
