GORILLAS

The family of gorillas includes: one silverback (which is an adult male) that is the leader of the group, one male child from eight to thirteen years old, three or four adult females who stay with the silverback their whole lives, and three to six young under eight years old. Some males live alone, and others form group of all males.

Gorillas get a lot of sleep. They sleep thirteen hours a day and rest for several hours during the day. Gorillas build new nests every night in short trees or on the ground by bending plants or branches.

When gorillas are not resting they are looking for food or eating food. They eat leaves, shoots, fruit, bulbs, bark, vines, and nettles. Gorillas also eat ants, termites, grubs, worms and baby insects.
