Producers, Consumers, and Decomposers

What are Producers?

Producers are oraganisms that are able to use the suns energy to make their own food. Grass trees and shrubs are producers. They also provide food for all the other living things.

Example: Insects eat the grass and the bird eats the insects and so on.

What are Consumers?

Consumers are any living things that get their food by eating other living things.

Example: A snake eats a mouse.

What are Decomposers?

Decomposers are living things that feed on and break down dead organisms and the waste of living things. The nutrients that were in the living things are put back into the soil by the decomposers. The nutrients are availible to the producers again.
