Doctor of Radium
When the couple had finished developing a family - they began
to work long hours in their lab. Marie and Piere discovered two
radioactive elements: radium and polonium. After their discovery
- they were jointly awarded the 1903 Nobel Prize.
On April 19, 1906 - Piere Curie died as a result of the
injuries sustained in a traffic accident. He was struck by a
horse-drawn wagon as he walked from his laboratory.
